The end of 2017 was unusually active. With the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act being signed into law on December 22, a greater number of optimistic and tax-motivated buyers entered the market hoping to close on the purchase of an aircraft prior to the start of 2018. In fact, most of the aircraft models discussed in our Winter 2018 Aircraft Market Reports saw a noticeable “selloff” in Q4 of 2017, much of which occurred in the last half of December 2017.

With lower-than-average inventory levels for pre-owned aircraft in early 2018, we are still seeing a lot of buyer activity. Many of the sellers from Q4 of 2017 are now looking for an aircraft to replace the one they sold.
