We announced this spring that we would be introducing a couple of new full-time Certified Flight Instructors. We now have three new CFIs as well as three additional new team members for you to meet!
Keaton Stengel joined our team in early July as a certified flight instructor. Originally from a small town in Texas, Keaton moved to Nebraska in 2014 and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in aviation with a concentration in professional flight. Keaton’s prior experience at Jet Linx Aviation as a client services representative, as well as his excitement for teaching and serving others, made him a perfect fit for the team.
Our new sales & marketing assistant, Sarah Learned, also joined our team in early July, bringing with her several years of experience in client relations, project management, and marketing. She grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a father who works as an avionics engineer, but was brought into the aviation world at full speed when she married her husband, John, in 2016. She graduated from the University of Nebraska—Lincoln with degrees in both psychology and advertising & public relations. Before her career at Performance, she worked as an account manager at a marketing and communications agency for four years, which taught her how to foster meaningful relationships and manage the ins and outs of sales and marketing projects. She loves supporting a team and finding ways to make processes as smooth and efficient as possible.
Alix Christensen, our new administrative assistant joined the team in May, and in a few short weeks has gotten to know most of our active flight training customers. She has a bachelor’s degree in education and human sciences from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Her education and previous experience at a busy medical office gives her an excellent background for working with our customers and instructors to manage schedules and other details. She is excited to be a part of the Performance Aircraft team and learn all about aviation!
Since joining the team as aircraft sales assistant in April, Zach Friesen has been actively involved in our aircraft showcase listing creation and aircraft advertising processes. With a family background in the Air Force, his genuine passion for aviation developed at a young age when he took his first step onto an airplane. The feeling of flight was an experience that he’d never forget. Zach is currently completing a bachelor’s degree in business administration at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. His education has provided him with valuable business and design skills, which he is excited to utilize within the aviation industry. He can’t wait to help inspire and enable aviation dreams while at the same time, accomplishing his own.
Matt McKenna joined our team at the end of May as an experienced certified flight instructor with a demonstrated history of helping others succeed in learning to fly. Matt has a bachelors degree in aviation with a concentration in professional flight from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Prior to embarking on his aviation career, he owned and managed a successful construction business, concentrating on commercial and residential projects. Although he enjoyed the construction business, Matt had always dreamed of flying and made a decision in 2015 to go back to school and begin a career as a pilot.
Steven Dethlefs joined Performance in early June as a certified flight instructor, bringing with him more than a year of experience teaching students to fly. Steve has always been interested in flying since he was a young boy. He went to air shows with his family, watched his dad fly for the Air Force for many years, and has been involved with aviation most of his life. Steve began working toward his flying career in 2013 by attending the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he obtained his bachelor’s of science in aviation with a concentration in professional flight. Prior to Steve’s flying career, he enlisted in the Nebraska Air National Guard back in 2011 as an Aerospace Ground Equipment mechanic working on ground equipment that support the KC-135. He loves working with his hands and finding new projects to accomplish.
We wish them the best of luck and look forward to our future working with them!
